jeffro, I just serviced my L3400 and when refilling the hydro, I put in 6 gallons, checked the sight glass and didn't see anything, so I added another gallon, still nothing, so I added one more. I know, stupid me, it only holds 6, but I had added a grapple, 4 remotes and TNT, and I figured... anyway, I had to get 2 gallons out, so I took one of the hoses loose from the top link cylinder, started the engine and s-l-o-w-l-y pulled the valve lever until fluid started coming out. It worked fine. It was not nearly as scary as I thought it would be. You may be able to do that with one of your back hoe hoses, just be careful go slow until you get the feel of it.

Just put one of the BH hoses in a bucket and activate the lever for that cyl.

I just overfilled my L3400 and just dropped the bottom plug and drained into a clean pan. Your hand gets a little oily getting the plug back in mid-stream but nothing to difficult.
