You need to pay attention to the horsepower rating of the tractor and the lifting capacity of the 3ph. The requirements are listed on the Value Leader website. I am not familiar with the 2230. The 2660 handles the weight fairly easily, but operation moving across a slope can be tricky. I do not mow or do anything that requires a lot of mobility while carrying the backhoe.
As far a fragile goes, I would say it is not fragile, but at the same time, as I stated in my post, it is not the best piece of equipment as far as being well-made. I have had some minor problems that you would expect with something like this, but nothing serious yet.
I say that value for the money is very good, it will perform as advertised. I have not dug a big hole with it, but I am confident that I could if needed.
I have dug up numerous stumps, cleaned out ditches, moved logs around, that sort of thing.
A problem that I do have is that the backhoe seat fits to tight to the rops. In fact, if you are not careful, it will jam up against the rops if the seat is not in the full forward position. For this reason, if I am doing a small task I will operate the hoe while standing on the ground behind the stabilizers.
The hoe is very easy to attach to the 3ph because once the pto is attached the bucket and stabilizers allow conciderable motion to align with the 3ph. If backhoe work was my primary use for a tractor, I would have a bigger tractor, and a bigger hoe, but for what I do, it works fine.
I wrote the customer review on the Value Leader website about installation and setup and outlined some minor problems there.
In short for what I paid, and for the use I expect, it is a good value.

I will do further reading about the 3ph capabilities of the 2230. I appreciate the additional information about your use of the BH. Sure sounds like it would do all I need and at a good price.

It doesn't seem to be much cheaper than a frame mount is it?

I just looked at the website for the pto mount unit and I see the price has gone up. I really do not know what a frame mount costs. I know that when I was shopping for my tractor, I talked to some people about what my uses would be, and in light of the fact that the cost of the BX with the backhoe was considerably higher than the BX 2660, I opted for the 2660 because I really could not justify the extra expense. At that time, I did not know about the availability of the pto mounted bh, but my recollection is that the total cost was lower to buy the 2660 and then buy the pto mounted backhoe.....could be wrong about that, just my recollection.
