Tomatoes Not Growing

I thought blight was always in the soil around here and it was more a matter of weather, spacing, water, etc. The patch that got it bad had never had tomatoes or potatoes but I did have it planted too dense. I over planted starts and went ahead and put them out tighter than normal. I do use a soaker hose on a timer and I likely will plant there again next year but less dense and with fabric over the soil. Happens to be the warmest place on the farm so I will see how it goes next year. The late summer did not help.
We are no experts here at Dragon's wife garden but it is something you have to be on top of with close inspection. Here is a short but I think decent article on the subject of blight.

How to Identify, Control and Prevent Blight on Your Tomatoes

We moved where we grow tomatoes. The area they were at was a little sloped toward the swale and would get damp in the evening till the warmer part of the day. Now planted up higher away from the creak, didn't have any blight. Was more diligent in removing lower leaves to make for more air movement.

I was delinquent in my pruning, I have to admit that. With 100 plants out for the extended family I did not get to them all, particularly the batch that got hit by late blight. Early blight I was able to prevent.

Once it gets in the soil it's there. If you don't want to move the spot, endeavor to remove all of the old roots, stems, leaves, and fruit from the ground. If it's really bad but the garden spot is good, you could even try digging out the soil and replacing it with fresh material; or at least put in a raised bed, again with new soil from someplace which hasn't had blight.

I lucked out, the one year that I had it I had planted on plastic. I pulled the plants, dropped them onto the film; rolled it all up into a ball, and dumped the entire mass over the banking into my stump dump. It's now buried about 10 feet down.

Yeah we are pretty much there... most plants pulled. A few hanging upside down and a lot of green tomatoes!

Thank you!

What's on page 72?

I kinda wished i'd waited for your recipe now. I found one on internet that was basically 2 tablespoon salt, 4 cups of water. I added garlic and peppercorns and a touch of turmeric for color. I'll try and post pict.
