As Ron White says, 'you can't fix stupid'. I have lived on septic since I moved out of my parents house about 40 years ago. I have always been conscious of recycling, disposing, composting, burning, etc. I like the challenge of minimizing my garbage and repurposing what I can. Unfortunately I am sure the masses don't give this any thought.

We were on septic for over 30 years; and we too were very careful. We used our disposal only for the small residue that was left in the sink after clean up; all our table scraps were composted. We intentionally only flushed TP and occasionally bowl cleaners; I also maintained it by adding Rid occasionally, and pumping it every 2 or 3 years. We had problems with the leach field surfacing, and being in a very sandy soil, our lines filled up with fine sand. We eventually hooked up to city sewage about 20 years ago when we had the opportunity. It costs a few bucks a month, but it's worth it.

A few years ago I had out septic tank pumped, that's after being here (then) 37 years. The septic guy said he pumps lots of tanks at churches and what stops them up are rubbers.

last week my local store had ice cream on sale...50% off. now proud owner of 6 - quarts of dryers ice cream (Not hording...just love ice cream)...and some hot fudge. store was stocked with everything except TP, cat litter and dog food.

but we have plenty of TP. the wife has always maintained a years supply since we built the house in 1996. main reason is because Costco was quite a drive away, and easier to buy in bulk. We just gave 6 rolls to a friend today as they were down to 2 rolls.
6 pints of ice cream is a 6 day supply for me  I've been loading up when we do our weekly shopping.

The red delicious apples are the ones we send out to those who do not know what a good apple is. We keep the good varieties to ourselves. :licking:

Mostly serious, since we do ship out other varieties. Locally we never eat the red delicious apple, but we may have to use them as TP someday.
Or drain plugs.

There is an idea.... Maybe hAy as toilet paper :confused3:

Hay can be woven into a mat. For that matter, anything that is long and slender with some flexibility can be woven. Of course, the thinner, softer, and more flexible the better.

Aldi's had two skids of TP at store opening at 9:00am this morning. I picked up 2 twelve packs for my wife's parents. I was the 2nd one at the skid. I did produce shopping for them as well. By the time I left the store 15 minutes later, it was down to 1/2 a skid.

Still out here but the entire store crew has been phenomenal in spirit and making it work.

In the shop I had 6 unused not N95 masks I brought in at 6 am this morning... staff said they would hug me if they could and they are very much front line...

He's telling the truth, sorta, the red delicious are just a blandish sweet apple that alot of people seem to like. There are many many different kinds of apples grown in Washington.

I've seen the same septic in a rental clean as could be and later simply full of all manor of garbage... cigarettes', wipes, hygiene products and even diabetic needles.

Not a good time to be a landlord around here. Lots of low life renters and Rental Tenancy Act protecting them. Hard enough to evict them BEFORE the Covid 19 crisis. Now legislation has disallowed ANY evictions in the interim.

My daughter that lives with us was helping and ordered some TP from Amazon... shipping delayed several times and then it showed up.. She opened the boxes and discovered paper towels.. she checked her order and somehow it was paper towels.. she checked her email confirmation for when she placed order and it too was paper towels... we have enough paper towels for sure. LOL

Same here in B.C. Red Delicious apples have been traced back to the Fred Flintstone era.
