You missed the whole point of the rule that says " The wheels with the least traction always take the lead".

Braking with the engine or the brake pedal is what caused the rear to come around.

My point was to keep the speed low enough that control and traction isn't lost. Keep it low enough you'll have no need for braking (let the engine do the braking) or shifting gears. I thought I made that clear, but I guess I didn't.
My tractors have been geared machines. With the old 670 or 790 (collarshifts), I'd use 1st or 2nd low range at 1500 RPM. I never hit the foot throttle or brakes. Same with the 4400 (reverser transmission). Sometimes I would get impatient (those gears in low range are slow), but one has to resist that temptation since that's what gets you in trouble.
However, wet grass on a slope can be challenging.

this works on my 4x4 truck in the mud on hills too...
