You may want to check to see if you are using "Bio" diesel;it doesn't have a shelf life like "regular",you may need a biocide to keep down algae growth.

Any thoughts on grease, still have to pick up a grease gun. What's working good for everybody around here???
^ ditto, but I use Howes.
I use Power Service white bottle year round. Cleans injectors, cetane boost, removes water. lubes fuel pump, anti-gel and makes starting easier.
I used Howes for years. Then it gelled and plugged a filter one morning in my pickup in about -45c weather. If you leave that bottle out in 35-40 below it will get all milky and thick. I stopped using it about 8 or so years ago. It is fine except in really cold weather.
Note that I was using it for a winter conditioner in winter fuel. Not for a antigel additive. Winter formulated fuel will not gel, but is very dry and needs something to increase lubrication properties.
the op is in Ca. I've used it at -9f with no issues. I don't think many of us here abouts worry about -49f cold starts.
