Guns is a taboo subject on most any forum. I could say much more on that subject (I just might be an expert on that subject) but will stop there on guns!
Back to ebay. Ebay sellers have requirements that should weed out most bad sellers and ebay does police the ads and messages. You don't just sign up for ebay by placing a bunch of lighthearted , minimal crap on a web form, it's required to have some hard information. Ebay wants their money from sellers, thats a hard and fast fact!
Above is mildly mentioned the bidder/non buyers on ebay. They are far and away the worst aspect of ebay . I don't know if they are kids, stupid adults, or folks with too little to do but it is easy to find ads that say don't bid if you'll not be following through-but they still do it.
I've sold vehicles on ebay-works great! I'm a senior and downsizing on some items from the finds ebay the best place.
Some items I sell locally through a gal I know and she gets all above my price-helps her and saves me time. Some items don't sell well here where there's no money-extremely poor! I sold a commercial appliance dolly on CL yesterday to a man whose the regional mgr for KFC. Heavy to ship on ebay, wont sell locally but easy for me to deliver it to a KFC, collect the money then go out to eat and grocery shop same trip.
I've sold and shipped to every continent except Africa on ebay and I'm just an old guy on a hill in eastern KY, not some big wheeler dealer.
Anyone who doesn't use ebay is also not into some of my hobbies. I also often buy there after comparing a straight web deal to Amazon. I have no idea why price points go up and down from the same sellers on all three web sales venues but they do.
I've redone a number of vintage motorcycles and there is NO!, NADA!, zero!, other venues for those parts or to sell the bikes when it's time to turn one loose or buy another project. An exception is a few dedicated MC forums. When I rebuilt wrecked cars I bought lots of parts on ebay. It was a case of a new part, used via salvage industry or ebay which is used by many commercial parts sellers aside from the biggie- Car-parts.com where most every salvage yard in the country sells parts.
I also buy gun related items there, but firearms themselves are not allowed, period. It's a huge endeavor and those who say it breeds crime are missing that venue, it's that simple. Doesn't mean anyone has to use it or even needs it.
There's an ebay seller in N AL selling tractor attachments, many made in USA too. He uses "skidsteer attachments" if I remember correctly. Has great prices but lacks the free shipping Titan offers. He sells a pallet fork set that fits my FEL QA for $395 plus shipping.
Ebay-don't buy there if the boogeyman lurks there in your dreams... It's a big world out there!
"If I had a nickel" for every web comment that says ebays bad, CL will get you murdered or beware of web CC buys I'd be a lot better off than my teacher retirement check does for us!
Washington DC seems to have lots of street corner sellers. I bought a "Rolex" there one trip for $10. Had a non Rolex quartz movement but was a nice looking watch. I gave it to my high minded nephew for Christmas long ago, now he's a surgeon-he can buy his own junk.
