Tire Valve Stems

I just replace 4 low pressure stems for high pressure last week on my boat trailer. Called my local tire shops and both wanted $20/tire to replace. Called Walmart and asked if they had HP stems and they did them for $3 per tire labor included. I had to take the tires in as they won't remove wheels from trailers. How can they pay someone to do that for $12 materials and all? They didn't completely unmount the tire, just one side.

A few years back the tire shop put in rubber stems on my trailer with 60 psi inflation...

I asked to see the box and the stems were 50 psi rated... they put in metal.

Never had problems with rubber stems until recently...

Had 3 flats in the last 5 years and they were all rubber stems that went bad... two were on a BMW with 42,000 miles..
