After putting tire slime in a tire, can you still let air out the valve stem? Does the slime clog up the valve stem so it's difficult to add/remove air.

Thanks, I picked up a nail, and was wondering whether to plug or slime it.

Plug it first, then slime it. You can clean out the valve stem by removing the core.

I agree, you should plug it first, then slime it for insurance. The slime bottle that I bought has a valve removal tool. You rotate the tire so the valve is up high, remove the valve, attach the hose that is supplied with the bottle and squeeze it in. Takes about a minute. Someone posted a while back about using the FEL to assist in the slime application... I'll look for it....

It was by FOURTEEN in post #432067... I quote:

Using the supplied hose to install the Slime is made easier by deflating the front tire with the bucket raised, then lower the bucket to raise the tire off the floor as you squeeze the Slime bottle. The vacuum helps suck the Slime in more quickly.

A very nice tip. Thanks again, FOURTEEN. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The slime does not plug up the valve core. It only gets hard when exposed to air. My place is covered in thorny mesquite I could not go one day without slime.

You are most welcome!!

It's just that I am so inherently lazy and impatient that I continually search for easier ways to do everything!! That's how I scratched all the hair off my head!!

Hi Duane,

Gemplers [Gemplers] carries UltraSeal, which is a top-of-the-line sealer. It comes in 2 versions, one for road vehicle use and which seals 1/4 inch punctures, and the other for off-road use, which will seal 1/2 inch punctures. That one is the one used by our armed forces in Humvees, etc. They also carry the injector
UltraSeal injector
which will allow you to add the proper volume w/o deflating or manually removing valve core. It works very well.
