Good points made! Also, is it just me? or does a rear tire on a tandem trailer seem to always the ones that get something in them. I believe the lead tire throws screws, nails, etc. up and the rear catches them. And good luck finding a "trailer" tire on a Saturday - around here anyway.

One of my serious car collector friends specified his new trailer wheels be interchangeable with that of his tow vehicle... in a pinch he always has an extra wheel between the trailer and truck spares.

Muti-axle have to be much harder on tires... just looking at some when I see one of the 24' enclosed trailers backing-up makes me wonder how the tire stays on the rim...

All but one of my trailers are single axle... tires last forever on single axle trailers... at least this has been my experience.
