tire chains

/ tire chains #61
Are chains worth it on asphalt? I have an 11% Grade on my driveway and I"m just thinking I don't need to tear up my driveway with chains if they're going to slip and rip it up anyway when I go to move snow.
Who knows? Your profile doesn't say where you live, so you could get anywhere from 12-160" of snow per year, plus ice storms.

If there is always links in contact there should be little or no slippage.
I made up a set of studded ice chains with the cross links every 3'd side link and have asphalt on my steep sections.
Come spring I hardly ever notice any chain scars and the very few that occasionally occur soon blend in.

Now on pavers that might be a different thing, oh, I do have a paver section and yes if I pressure wash scars do show.
