Hello, I've had a Cub Cadet LT1050 (26hp) for almost 2 years and so far no problems. If I had to start over again, I'd probably look at a 2000 series (or an old 1450 like my dad had when I was a kid) but I really can't complain about the LT1050.

A few spots in my yard are a bit steeper than I should be using my tractor on and I get some wheelspin from time to time. I'm going to add some chains to help me to have more traction. I bought the MTD OEM-190-916 chains which are supposed to be the right size for my tires.

Anyway, no matter how tight I put them on (after emptying the air from the tires), I could not get them tight enough - even with no empty links between 2 sets of cross chains. Is this normal? I haven't removed any links yet, and I expected to need to remove a link or 2, but needing to remove a 3+ links and a set of cross chains makes me uncertain that I haven't messed something up.

Has anyone else with an LT1050 had a similar experience? Thanks.

I've always used bungee cords across the diameter. 2 inside and 2 out per wheel is usually enough to keep them nice and snug.
