No need to be scared of the ether method....... just don't get carried away with it.

It's safer with the valve core removed.

Before you use the wd40, starting fluid, or weld on a rim with tire on it please watch this video!

As some one who broke a hand (it could have been worse)seating a bead
make sure it is mounted on some thing or in a cage not just laying on the floor.

Thanks for the video..im curious what if any the temp change is when you do the seating method.
Welding on the rim is a differnt animal than the process for the tire seating.
Interesting how it was made for a lawsuit.

Success - Thanks to you all.
I didn't have a ratchet strap but I did have a chain binder. I tried it in the garage and I could see it wanted to work but my small compressor didnt have enough lungs to pop it. So I squirt some dish soap all around the bead thinking that would help. Mistake. It was 10F and the soap immediately froze. I took the wheel off and brought it down cellar and set it next to the wood stove for an hour. Then I tried it again. The tire was more plyable and the soap slippery. Worked like a champ. Glad I did not try to screw around with it in the woods. I will get some protection for these valve stems first chance I get. Thanks again.

Just seating it on the rim held enough for me to drive out of the woods. The R4 tires are pretty stiff and though pressure was low the bead didn't come off the rim.

George, Thank's, that's good to know, I've always been near or at a shop. MikeD74T

Glad to hear you got it fixed.............and most people think that woodstoves are just for heating houses:laughing::laughing::thumbsup:

I shoulda said something earlier, but grease from your grease gun probably would have sealed it enough to take air also, along with the binder.
