I bought a used 6x10 trailer 10 years ago and have gotten a ton of use from it. But the floor was rotting out, everything was getting rusty and lights were broken or flaky. So time to give it some TLC.

I removed the lights, wheels, tongue storage box, sanded the entire trailer with a grinder powered braided cable wire brush, washed it, rolled on two coats of primer and the rolled on two coats of navy blue marine paint. I figured everyone has black trailers so I’d have a navy one! Put a new deck on, added a 7 wire junction box and 7 wire plug, ran new wires in plastic conduit including a ground wire to each light and new LED lights. Turned out nice.

Eventually I want to upgrade the axle and wheels from 3500 lbs to 5200 lbs with brakes so I set it up for a 7 pin plug in preparation for that.

Goes with the truck color pretty well.

I tried to get as close as possible on a budget. Chevy NorthSky Blue Metallic was around $500 a gallon so I went with Rustoleum Navy Blue Marine Paint instead!

You did a good job. At least another ten years in it for you.

Very nice work. The results look good and the trailer looks to be well made.
You could get a drop hitch to level it out and distribute the load properly.

The drive might have a slope to it, causing the non-level look. Jon

I tried a hitch with a 6" drop and the trailer sloped down in the front. Then I used a 4" drop and the trailer slopes up in the front as in the picture. I need a 5" drop hitch which I could not find in the weight capacity I was looking for. I figured a slight up attitude would level out if we put a full load in the trailer as the back of the truck would settle a bit.

I solved this with a 6" drop hitch with a 1" rise ball.
