Time Change already this weekend

I say split the difference. Fall back now. In the Spring, go forward 30 minutes and Then leave it alone. DST was always the problem, not the solution. We would not even be the most populous country to be off of GMT by a 30 minute interval. India and a few other places do the same.

A lot does depend on your latitude and your location in between the time zones. The closer you are to the equator, the more balanced your days, regardless of season.

Permanent DST was tried in the 70s and it only took one winter for the people not to like it.

I remember going to school in the dark in California. No one liked it. It must have really been bad for people up north.

The retail industry is pushing permanent DST because they think people will buy more. Permanent DST will have negative health effects for a lot of people. If we have to stop changing the clocks it should be permanent standard time as sunlight will better align with people's activity.

Yes, it makes quite a difference during the winter the more north you are as far as daylight hours.

I'm probably outspoken on this, but I'd rather adopt Standard Time, you know, the time that we are on during the winter months. I honestly do not see the benefits of DST at all. People complain that "we lose an hour" on Standard Time... but no... not really. There is still 24 hours in a day. There is still the same amount of daylight on Dec 15th 2022 than there was on Dec 15th 1922.

Besides, I prefer the cold and dark of winter anyway. 🥶

Yes, the total amount of daylight of course isn't affected at all. The question is, would you rather have more daylight after work when you can actually use it, or in the morning? A majority of people would rather have the hour of daylight in the evening when it can be used to complete chores around the property after work, get little league baseball games in, mow the grass, or whatever else it is you need to do. Putting that hour on the front of the day when most people are driving to work is a waste.

Long live DST!!!

Doesn't matter to me either way. I just wish they'd set it and forget it.
I would vote for a 7:00 AM. sunrise every day of the year.
