I recently purchased 76 acres of land, 50 of which are under a forestry management program. Can "crop" insurance be purchased against wind, fire, ice, disease, etc. damage to the existing and future timber? If so, how does such a policy work, and what is the approximate cost? I've found a lot of liability insurance information by searching the forum, but have been unable to find anything pertaining to "timber" insurance.
