reelscreamer,
Any luck buying the KK?

I hope to find a 48" this week.

One thing you should consider is how much weight you have on the front end. I just bought the tg60y that weights 690#. If it wasn't for the FEL I think it would pick the front tires off the ground when I raise it. By the way I tilled about 2 acres today and was verry impressed with how well the K.K. did.

Terps, Yes I picked up the 48" on friday and hooked it up on saturday. The KK does a great job. What used to take me 4-5 hours I did in around 30 min. Tiller does great on the tractor.

h20camper,

Another option for you to consider is the BEFCO T30 and T40 series tillers. These tillers are specifically made for subcompact tractors. They feature solid steel shafts, true side shift capability, and forward or reverse tilling. The side shift is really nice for subcompacts. The T30 comes with a 30hp gearbox and is rated for tractors between 16 and 30hp, while the T40 comes with a 40hp gearbox and is rated for tractors between 18 and 40hp. You can get more info on them here -

I would go for a lighter tiller than the King Kutter TG-48. I think you would be unhappy with this much weight on your tractor and the tiller would feel akward on your smaller tractor. I own a BX23 and would not get the KK tiller for this reason. The WOODS subcompact series tiller would fit well with your tractor. I like the CCM gear tiller and would go with the sturdier MR model. These tillers weigh less than the KK. If I get a tiller I would probably go with the CCM gear one but this is my preference.

I have used tillers on tractors that were somewhat too large for the tractor. Although they work you feel that the tiller is too bulky and harder to control.
I have a dual range 90hp tractor and am looking at purchasing a KK 72II tiller. The tiller weighs about 750 pounds which is not a problem for the tractor and while I know that this is a lot of tractor for this size tiller, I am thinking that I may have the tiller longer than the tractor. When I replace the tractor, I plan to scale down to a 35-50 hp unit. So my question is: does anyone know if the 90hp tractor. would be too much for the KK 72II in the interim? I could back off on the RPM if needed.
