KK also has a model tc-48-xb that is a limited cat 1 and the weight is 425#. They say it is rated for subs up to 25hp

I read that on the hp requirements as well. My tractor will spin it fine anywhere from 1800 rpm up to pto speed of 2600rpm. It has plenty of power, I feel I could have ran the 60" with no problems.

Don't know how hard you're going to work your tiller, but I bought mine to do simple gardening and landscaping chores.

I went throught the puts and takes exercise last summer like you're doing now and decided that I would try a pre-owned 48" Yanmar RS1200 rototiller (chain drive) from my local grey market tractor guy. Picked out a nice one for $300. Plan to use it later this month to put in landscaping around my new house.

Has anyone used the KK tc-48-xb that was mentioned above?
Where did you get it, price?
Thanks

I know TSC has the TG-48 and the 48-xb. They are selling the TG-48 for $1136 and the XB was around $1250 i believe.

Specs of my tractor (JD 2210) match the 48-XB, but I just don't like the idea of one 48" tiller weighing 600 lbs and the other weighing 425 lbs. In other words, I'd prefer the heavier duty if possible.

The TG-48 says the min PTO HP required is 20 HP. The 2210 has about 18 PTO HP. I've read others have used similar tillers and the 2210 has not had a problem.

I'm hoping to get one this weekend.

You are correct terps. I just left tsc. My prices were 1100 for the tg-48 and 1200 for the xb. While I was there talking with the man, he asked what I had, I told him kutbota bx2230 with 17hp pto. He showed me his latest specs from KK and it stated the tg48" only required 15hp pto. The tg is gear driven, the xb is chain driven. I am leaning hard toward the tg48

reelscreamer,
Thanks for the info. Did you happen to notice the PTO HP requirements for the 60"?
Just called my local TSC, of course they don't have any TG-48s in stock. TG-60 runs $1246.

According to his book and the website, the 60" needs 20hp pto. I got my $50 coupon in the mail yesterday. If the truck showing up at the TSC has a 48" on it, its going home with me today /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have a 335' by 75' area that was just cleared of brush vines and lots of small trees.
There are lots of 1 to 3 inch roots left under ground .
Would a tiller have any problems tilling this area ?

I would think the roots would make the tiller bounce a lot. This is based on my (limited) experience with my First Choice tiller. It didn't really cut them. Do you have a box blade you can use with the scarifiers to rip the roots?
