Tier 4 emmisions, best options out there?

Hi folks, I I've just started researching new tractors and found some info on the new LS xu5055 and xu5065 models, apparently the new Shibuara engines achieve emission standards without the use of a dpf, through efficiency, common rail, and an egr. This seems more desirable than using a dpf from my experience with trucks. I was under the impression that all tier 4 tractor motors used a dpf. Are there any other new models out there that work similar to this? Sorry if this has been covered but I haven't found much info about this.

There was a thread here recently that talked about Kubota having a series of engines that didn't have a DPF. I sure hope the industry continues in that direction, DPF's have been a thorn in my side on pickups...

Mahindra, as far as I know, has no DPF models. Perhaps some of the rebadged Mahindra models may. From my understanding DPF has just been a "quick fix" for some manufacturers while research was being performed, nobody likes DPF...

Just bought a 2014 NH Workmaster 55. The book lists it as a tier 3 engine.

If there was a tier4 or interim tier4 that didn't have all the cost raising DPF stuff on it, on the lot side by side with an older "creampuff" tier3, I don't think I'd go with the older unit. The tier4 stuff is much more efficient. Diesels that use DPF to achieve the higher standards have long claimed the increased efficiency would pay for the increased system cost over time. I'd think that diesels that don't need DPF and it's associated costs to achieve the higher standards would be the most cost effective overall...

If my choice was a egr system vs a def system. I would go with Def. At least in the large diesels the egr systems are very high maintenance. Both are much more maintenance than the tier3.

Thanks folks, I may look for some tier 3 machines. I've been by 2 NH dealers and neither stocked any of the large frame Workmaster models, but they look good in videos. And I've found some 5e Deere models and they look nice. I like the M7040 Kubotas too if they're still available.

What kind of maintenance for the EGR?? EGR is exaust gas recirculation and wasn't aware of any maintenance needed for it. DEF is diesel exaust fluid. Did you aim to say a diesel particle muffler?
