tie rod ends

does any body know what the thread size is on the tie rod ends. for a yanmar 336d tractor . I bought a new tie rod set up from hoye tractor and the left hand thread does not thread in . had to start filing the threads with a 30 deg file per side for 60 deg total just for it to start threading it in . I got it to thread in about 3/4 to 1. but very tight bad threading job in the shaft. thank you bob v.

thank you. I just emailed hoye tractor where bought the complete tie rod assembly. my second house is 2.5 hours away from where I live that's where the tractor is the right tie rod threaded in fine but the left would only thread in about a 1/4 of a inch. boy was I pissed off 3. hours home the dam leaf peepers clogging up the highway. what the **** will a left hand tap and die cost me . hey thanks for the info .some where to start msc industrial here we come thank you bob.v

I am sorry you are having problems with your tie rod. Those tubes are made for us by a local machine shop that typically does very good work. I guess you are sure that it is not a ding or something on the male tie rod thread that is causing the problem? I have not had any other problems with the tubes but we can certainly switch it out for a good one if you would rather. M17 1.5 LH is a very uncommon thread.

But it looks like Hoye will, standing behind their product as one would expect.

Yep, surely irritating when one gets a rare defective product but such is the nature of human endeavors. It's the vendor follow-up that makes the difference and that's another of the reasons that Hoye has earned a great rep, IMHO.

Did you compare the thread pitch with the old end, and does the old end still screw in??
