Throttle on 1520

I have a question on my JD 1520. The throttle seems pretty stiff and it has a tendency to jump out of the position it is in back to a lower speed. I'm thinking this is the governor trying to work, but it just doesn't seem right. Is that how it is supposed to be or do we have it adjusted incorrectly?

This tractor doesn't have a foot pedal, just a hand lever. Also can I have a foot pedal installed for the throttle?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes you can add foot throttle. You just need to add all parts in the first picture. In second picture, I think parts #6 are worn on your tractor causing the thottle to not stay at position you put it. They are the throttle brake disks. Sometimes the backing plates #4 in picture get tight on the throttle shaft and don't allow spring # 13 to put tension on the brake disks. If you can disassemble and clean everything up, it might work ok without new disks.

The only time I use the foot throttle on the 2030 is when on public roads. I feel it's safer that way, second nature to let off to slow down. Other than that I would never miss it.

It would make a huge difference in my tractor just to clean up the throttle that is on it. Some day I'd like to ad the foot pedal. My old tractor actually is working great. It just needs a little TLC in places.
