I am close to firing up my Kolher CH20, after putting in
new head gaskets , and new rear seal.... and of course
there is always an obstacle that pops up...
I am missing a linkage spring or something is amiss.
Choke plate works fine ... but I thought I
recall, the throttle plate opening and closing with the
movement of throttle cable.... it does NOT now.
Seems like there is no connection between governor lever
and throttle control are.... the one with holes in it....
and I have no spring in it.
I only remember removing the big spring
from governor lever .
Anyone have any pics of a Cub Cadet 3000 series
spring attachment points...
I did get info from online manual... but no help...
Thanks ...
Pete

I have not run engine yet... but think I figured problem out...
factory return spring to put force on governor seemed to be so loose,
that it was useless... so I attached another spring in it's place...
to close throttle plate...now bigger spring on governor lever acts
to control open throttle , while this new spring I installed returns all
when throttle is closed down.
Of course the proof is in the running engine... we will hope for the best.

Pete,
I just saw your post about the throttle linkage springs. It looks like you may have figured it out but I snapped a photo of my linkage anyhow. Let me know if you need to see more.

The photo provided by "Claridon" is great. If you have not done so, please go to the Kohler site and download the Service Manual for a Kohler CH18-750. Start reading on page 11-22 and read thru page 11-26. How to adjust the governor and illustrations on linkage connections are provided. If you have the manual do a refresher by reading the pages provided previously.

Guys...thanks for all your help... I have a new serious problem....
got engine going....and only runs for a few seconds.... but that I will deal
with later.... but the bad news is.... I have a very bad oil leak, coming from
top of engine , and running down right side ( starter side ) ....
could this be gushing from the governor shaft ?
Any ideas before I start digging ?
This engine has been a nightmare this season....
blown head gasket... front and rear engine seal... carb shot, and replaced...
