I am looking a getting a tiller, a used one, any make about 5'. And I want to get a flail mower. So my thought is, can I, or has anybody re-geared a tiller to speed it up to be used as a flail mower? And replacing the tiller tines with flail blades.

I have run 5.5' tillers right through a cornfield in the fall. Seriously, I was eye high in cornstalks and the tiller chops the stalks and all and then stirs them into the ground. So it was a bit like mowing if your intention is to make the vegetation go away. To just cut it then you'll not get there with a tiller. Too slow. You'll just end up with the vegetation wrapped around the tines.

Or how about slowing down a flail mower to be used as a tiller??
