Those grease zerks on top of the front axle bevel gear housing.

I've got a DK45SE. I have read something about servicing these somewhere but I can't remember what I read. I can pump several shots into each one and no grease ever comes out anywhere. I don't want to just keep pumping as a grease gun can exert tremendous pressures.

I pump on mine until is see the rubber O-ring begin to bulge. Usually 3-4 pumps. Over time, any excess will ooze out past the O-rings and I will have to wipe it up with a shop rag.

Good question. I have a DKse as well. From what I gather in this diagram, that grease zerk services the void between the upper bearing and upper seal. It keeps the upper bearing lubricated, as that bearing sits above the oil level in the axle. This grease also helps keep the seal from drying out. The grease eventually runs down into the axle oil, so be sure not to overdo it, couple shots every time.

Exactly, just like the inboard center pivot zerk. Couple of good pumps and stop.

As an added note for newbies to greasing (who might read this- like many hobby farmers) it's helpful to understand how grease zerks can often be in-operative, or uncooperative might be another way to say that? Hardened grease is the common culprit. Cleaning the zerk or replacement is the solution. On a lucky day the grease gun will force the grease in as desired.
