Things that annoy me

Every single time I buy something at any retail store in America I will be asked if I have a Rewards card. Then I will be asked if I want to buy a service contract for the item I am buying. Then they ask if I would like to donate to Kids With Cancer. Finally, the store's web address is circled on the receipt and I am asked to go online and fill out a survey.

My reply to those queries is usually "No, I'm filthy rich and couldn't care less about saving money and I hate kids."

My other pet peeve is being asked my name so they can shout it out when my fast food is ready. I always give my name as "007" or "Bond, James Bond." That always gets a laugh and they always play along with it.

AMEN !!!! I drive 100 miles round trip to work, all interstate driving and I see this all the time. I am tempted once in a while to give them the ol' Earnhardt bump !!

LOL! It does not exist in Europe, btw, that's a pure American thing.

I know what you mean, and I used to come close to getting into altercations on the highway. One day, I decided something had to be done before I did something stupid. So, I moved my work hours from 8-5 to 6-3. That was a good move for me, and I have zero issues in the morning, and way fewer in the afternoon. I realize with your commute, there is little that could be done.

Oh, and for me it was "the Richard Petty trick" because he actually did it once on the HIGHWAY if I remember correctly.

Poor OP, so many problems and few solutions.

Up to 1" PVC, this is way more better than sawing:

On the bigger ones I use a jig saw whenever possible, and keep a longer blade just for the purpose.

So many other excellent peeves have already been covered, particularly turn signals going out of vogue. The only satisfaction is the ones who also have large dents in the trunk or tailgate.

Speaking of people blocking the fast lane... why is it that gold cars (Saturns, Avalons in particular) always block traffic? Used to be it was light blue Cadillacs with blue hairs, but the lack of momentum seems to have shifted to any car painted gold.

All of my crescent wrenches are like USB ports. Whichever I turn the screw thing with my thumb, the jaws go the opposite of the direction I wanted. Then just when you get it down, you get a bolt going the other way, and the darn thing changes up on you.

Best thing for PVC (or any pipe) is a cheap battery operated sawzall and 16 tpi blade.. I have a Black and Decker just for that purpose.. Plumbers best friend.

I used to have a Craftsman radial arm saw; finest tool I ever found for cutting wood and plastics. It cut PVC pipe cleanly and straight, but skirting for mobile homes, etc. besides cutting lumber for a variety of jobs.

People that are Greedy and are never satisfied or content with what they have. Material things aren't the only important things in Life. Even if One owned everything on this planet, you will still die and your body will rot away in the end. Has anyone seen the video by Johnny Cash-"Hurt"? You can see it on YouTube. There is a good chance that you will see LIFE in a different Perspective after seeing the Video.

Yes indeed Johnny Cash's video "Hurt" hits home. It is hard to believe that the original version is a Nine Inch Nails song!

Cheryl Crow had the line in her song Soak Up the Sun "its isn't about having what you want its about wanting what you've got." And the Rolling Stones sang about "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need..."

How much "stuff" is enough? Creekbend, I agree with you - there has to be a limit. It isn't the things in life that produce contentment! Some of the most content people I know don't have much stuff but they have happy hearts!

And the Rolling Stones sang about "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need..."

Stones also sung " I can't get no,, satisfaction"

Also agree with Creekbend, I wonder if peoples "wants" correlate with what they "perceive" to bring happiness? If we lost all our "toy's would we still be content? I think even in this age, we are still "hunter/gatherers" to a point. Got to have what the "jonses" have, allot of songs sung about that too.
