I live in the pacific northwest, at the end of a mile long dirt road. Of course, that means maintaining our own road. The other by-product is a 14" diameter tree every 8-10' along the side of the road. A standard brush hog isn't going to work for me very well.

I have seen the county driving around with a mower mounted on a boom that can be manipulated between the trees. I have questions:

1) What is this implement called?
2) Can I get one for my JD 4500?
3) If so, where?
4) Does anyone have one of these and wish to share some experiences?

Thanks
Kevin

Kevinro, these would be called a side-mount mower or a boom mower. I found them at mowmaster.com Jim in Idaho

Here's another link <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tiger-mowers.com/>Tiger mowers</A> for a well known brand of boom mower.
