Just got a call tonight from my neighbor and late last night someone or persons broke into his shop and stole his Honda Fourtrax ATV and a utility wagon with his chainsaw,ax,shovels, rakes and other tools in it and the whole kicker is they were so quite that their dog did not even bark and they were also home, they figured it was between 1 and 5.

I went out to my property tonight after I got the call and loaded up my Sportsman, Cub Cadet and brought them home and then went out and loaded the 1705 up and brought that to my home, my equipment was no more then 100 yards away from his shop on my property, the thieves could of taken my stuff too, I have a gut feeling that they might of scoped my property out and weæ±*e going to come back.

I will go out tomorrow morning and check out the camper, shed and enclosed trailer to see it those were broken into, I did move 2 of my deer cameras so they are looking right at my camper and trailer, would so like to catch a thief out there in person or on camera.

And I was think'in about a dog to keep the deer out of the gardens.

What sort of dog was it? I don't want one of that breed.

That is the interesting part, They have a lab cross and it weighs around 90 pounds and has barked at me every time I have gone over there, the dogs a barker but for some reason it did not bark at all that’s why We are thinking it is not the thieves first time hurting somebody’s life.
My little Jack Russell/Rat Terrier will keep rabbits, squirrels, gophers and deer out of my yard, he thinks he is a killer hahaha.

I kind of skim posts and read it that way at first before going back and catching the rest of the words. :)

My guess is the dog knew them. Not uncommon for dirtbags to hit places they know.

But maybe as a caution, see if a Vet can tell if the dog was drugged/tranquilized.

Get cameras up, those that you can set instant alerts on. Add an audible alarm to your garage. Moving your equipment will only by you a bit of time...you need to know if they are still in the area.

Years ago, the farmer who had bought my Fourtrax called, looking for vehicle ID info. Thieves took it and several others. I can't get halfway up his driveway without being greeted by several of his barking dogs, yet the dogs were quiet. He figured the thieves used hamburger, but they'd still have to get close enough to entice the dogs. Must be a trade secret.

Here we go with the cameras again! Trade your stuff for some video footage of someone stealing it.

Cameras never leave your side and never have to be fed :)

Cameras are immensely useful and practical for many purposes. Just that (usually) preventing people from stealing your stuff isn't one of them.

Somewhat related. I'm sure that Walmart had tons of cameras! I hope the people felt safe, at least til they got shot.

They feed the dogs several times over a few days and the dogs become accustom to the vehicle and person.. No bark..

Kinda my thinking too. Cameras just show you're getting robbed and do little to prevent it.

Local paper published security photo from a recent bank robbery- robber had sunglasses, plus a hoodie over his head. Question is, with artificial intelligence software that can even recognize faces, why would bank security even let this guy in the front door?

Proposed sign on front door:

Hat? Hoodie? Sunglasses? No Enter.

I see some variation on this at several banks around here.

Prudent. Whenever we drive thru USA/Canadian Customs, we're told to roll down any agent facing windows and remove our sunglasses. It ain't rocket surgery.

Ah, but the woman can wear the Kabibe, or whatever the #$#$ it's called. COULD be a man, no? That's kind of predudice, assuming it's a man that would rob a bank! lol

Camera surveillance system should be just one piece of your security measures. Proper lighting, hardened entry points, audible alarms, immediate text/pic notification are others.

I planted a palm tree at the entrance to my property.....next day thet dug it up and took it.

They took a LOADED dump 16' trailer weighing 6k pounds. 2k load, 4k trailer. Looks like they hooked it up to a hslf ton pickup ad their rear tires were spinning all the way out of our property in the gravel.

Lastly they took my 18' delivery truck, but first they filled it with evert took, compressor etc that I owned.

Luckily all covers by insurance only cost me deductables.

I got stopped by a state trooper last weekend, first time in years. Yet I instinctively put my hands on top of the steering wheel, so that she knew where they were. Purely survival instinct on my part as I often have unloaded guns in my vehicle but a cop's firearm is locked and loaded. Thankfully my fierce guard dog in the back seat :p didn't wake up.

Going through the border, I make sure the bed of the truck is open, the rear window open, sunglasses (G3 Aviator) off, music off, say, yes sir, no sir (mamm) look them straight in the eye and LIE! lol

Have you ever thought seriously about what you would do if you did catch someone out there stealing your stuff? Say you drove up just as two guys were getting in their truck to drive away with a bed load of your stuff? What is your plan? What would you do? Seriously
