They\'re at it again!

There's a 12 year old Yanmar 2000 on ebay. Last week someone I know bought a 1994 1500.

Re: They\'re at it again!

Eugene,

What is better than a 12 year old YM2000? A 1 year old YM2420D, yep there is one on eBay right now.

Re: They\'re at it again!

I sent an e-mail to the seller of the 2420 and told them what year the tractor was built and their response was "Well I bought it last year and it has been refurbished". I noticed that they have pulled the auction.

Re: They\'re at it again!

I hate it when I see this type of misrepresentation. Ebay has a procedure for turning in misrepresented items. I usually have a hard time finding it. I have informed Ebay of several of these & they have responded quickly like they did last night. I would encourage everyone to contact Ebay if you see something misrepresented. This includes putting words in the description so the item will come up in a search of a different item. Example: Putting Yanmar in a description of a Chinese engine that has no connection with Yanmar. This happens alot. If you see this going on, I encourage you to contact Ebay. If people get called on it, hopefully they will quite trying it.

The tractor community is apparently
"self-policing"....Nice work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: They\'re at it again!

Following is what we emailed the seller. Usually the response we get is not pleasant. We shall see.

"The YM2000, in various forms, was made only until 1978. The YM2000B, which is what your unit appears to be, was made in 1979. It also does NOT have glow plugs. I will assume that you simply know very little about the product you are selling. I trust you will change your ad accordingly. By the way, you can confirm what I have told you on literally dozens of websites.
Sincerely,
wayne foreman www.lmtcompany.com"

Re: They\'re at it again!

Someone else must have notified them, because their website was already changed when I returned to it (and they couldn't have changed it already from our email). So congratulations to that seller for being honest once appraised on the actual age.

Re: They\'re at it again!

Wayne,
If you look at his other auctions, he is selling more than that one Yanmar. May be a "Tractor Dealer" without too much knowledge.
He did not amend the point about the glow plugs either.

Re: They\'re at it again!

I emailed him early today and he responded that he was going to change it. I did the same thing a few months ago for the same dealer selling the same tractor. He even acknowledged this in his reply to me.
I had someone call me yesterday about one of my tractors. He was also looking someones YM1500d with a loader for $7000. 1500d seller said the tractor was a 1988 model! Also overpriced.
Guess it will never end.

It's not as if it was hard to dig up info on yanmars. A search on yanmars on the i-net turns up dozens of -good- sites.

Two issues here... shere ignorance, coupled with laziness, and the other is just plain fraud. Between the two.. it is deffinately a 'caveat emptor' market.

Re: They\'re at it again!

I just looked at the 12 year old 2000 bd--still says 12 years old (estimated) but then at the bottom is a little disclaimer that they were told it is actually 24 years old (so it must be in good shape because their estimate was so far off). Hmmmm

Re: They\'re at it again!

Didn't Hinomoto go bankrupt or close or something in the last 80's or early 90's?
