I use a 3 sided pallet base built carrier-all on the rear and one on the forks. It equals about 2/3 of a full cord per tractor load. All green wood - no issues.
Thanks Lloyd. My tractor is a kubota l4740. 47 hp. I have forks and think I will rig up a carry all on my logging winch. I was figuring I could come out with a half cord. Think I will invest in a rigging. Would be easier to load up forks and be more maneuverable in the woods and better in the snow.

Guess I will wait until I move back to ns before I rig this up.

Cory?

Here's a pick of my forks loaded with a pallet full of wood. The rear carrier frame allows two 2"x2" forks to be insert in the lower square receivers. I can back up and pick up a load as well. The 3pt frame I made...

I find that it's easier to cut it tree lenght, clean most of the branches off while in the bush, and haul it away to a landing, then cut to whatever your needs are. This eliminate all the brush and small branches. Then I cut the tree to whatever lenght with the chain saw that I'm comfortable to lift on the buzzsaw. In this way, I can work and not hurt my back.

I mainly cut on surrounding ranches that are in the CRP conservation program. I don't like to cut anything green on my land. I cut, split and sell anywhere from 10 - 35 cords a year depending on how ambitious I am, if I draw for hunting season and when I can get good weather. This is a hobby or avocation, not my day job.

I cut mainly pinon, cedar and oak. I use an assortment of chain saws (Stihl), an ax, wedges, steel pry bars, several splitters, and my Kubota RTV for hauling out of the cutting areas to a staging area for loading up my trucks (2) and trailers. I buck up all the wood to firewood length at the site where I fell the trees and load up the RTV, load up my trailers and split when I get back to my place.

Works pretty good for me.

This year, found the blade had a 3/16'' run-off. Made me think of the danger . Got the saw apart, got the shaft checked, she was bent. Got it re-welded and cut on a lathe. redone the whole base with new steel. Now I know for sure. Will send new pictures.

IMG_0175.jpgSince my thread on Nov. 10 of last year, I got the shaft of the buzzsaw straightened, and redone the subframe from the bottom up. The saw now runs straight with no vibrations.
