Anyone running a dual lid with 16gpm or more flow? What’s your cylinder size and cycle speed?

Cycle speed of the lids (dual or single) is seldom an issue. Typically a few seconds up and a few down. What speed are you looking for?

Anyone running a dual lid with 16gpm or more flow? What’s your cylinder size and cycle speed?

My tractor only had like 3 GPM flow. The duel lid grapple opened and closed in a few seconds. It worked fine. Then I set in the seat of the CTL. All the hydraulics are blazing fast. The grapple opening is probably 3 times more than my tractor grapple. The bite force is way higher. The machine is 40 GPM on the aux functions but that's with the bigger high flow fittings. I'm probably pushing 20 GPM in the grapple. Whats the idea behind the question?

I opted for the larger 2.5x10 cylinders as opposed to the 2x10 on the 73” dual lid wicked utility grapple I just ordered. I found a calculator that would tell you ram speed after entering gpm/bore/stroke/rod diameter, but it was for only one cylinder. Just wondering what others had experienced. Just don’t want them to be too slow. Also did another calculator for force.

I think you'll be fine. Just keep out of the seat of a CTL. If you're really getting 16 GPM on the aux function your grapple will be far faster than average.

Thanks, I hope so. I’d like it to be somewhere close to the thumb on my excavator. My 3rd function valve is OEM Kubota and is plumbed with 1/2” line and 3/4 quick couplers.

Cylinder size is 2x10. Cycle speed is fast enough at idle that I never noticed it being slow.

Max flow is 22 GPM, don't know what the flow is at 1250 RPM idle.

The aux control is a thumb slider on the joystick and I don't slide it all the way open to close the lids.
