I didn’t see any and decision to replace the line was based on the leakage.

Those lines have to remain in the exact same form as from the factory or they will leak.

If it was mine I would be tempted to tap the bores where the lines go in and replace them with a hose. I might even consider epoxying the fittings in the transmission side to avoid chips from tapping threads.
I was thinking maybe switching them to rubber but as long as it's under warranty I think I'll delay that until after the warranty is over. The o-ring fittings are good connections as longs as they go in straight, it's just that the iron pipe is so ridged there is no room to get them lined up without nicking one of the o rings. Hopefully the mechanic will have a solution.

They are a pain to deal with.

Here’s my thread on a Kubota forum about the issue and fixing it.

I second the idea of a skid plate! Could be made of pref steel with small holes to allow air and any water or possible leaks to drip.

I'd leave it to the mechanic.

I've been pretty lucky with my L3240 and not taking out anything on the underside so far.

I do have a backhoe subframe which would make a good mounting point for a skid plate. Guess I'll need to add that project to the list!

mx842, if you do end up wanting to make a skid plate, I may be able to help with that. I am in Powhatan, near the L&C dealer. Just let me know.

Have you considered buying the metal and fabbing your own up? Shouldn't be too difficult and will save you a ton of money. I built my own grill guard for $40 and I think it looks better than anything I could have bought and it's heavier duty than anything I seen on the market.

When those steel lines get a slight bend they will leak, they have two thin brass washers called a “seal” the line is attached by a banjo bolt that doesn’t take mush of a hit for it to leak because the bolt is hollow.

Good information that I wasn't aware of. I'm going to be even more careful going forward with regards to ground clearance. The R1's help with a little more height, but not enough to be carefree.
