Well, I'm only half way there with 20 years of wedded bliss behind me. But I can proudly say that I have a one car garage, a two car garage and a rented 20X10 storage shed and not one running vehicle in any of them! Tractor excluded, of course.

Yep.. I got a 3 car garage and 2 car detached garage.. And a car's never been in them.. have had ( have ) tractors in them though!!!

I can't figure out why they are called "car garage". Never had a car or truck in my "tractor garage". Other building is called a machine shed and for a reason.

When I was a kid we had a carport. Nobody else had a carport. Sounds kind of snooty: "We have a caaarrrrport." Later in life my folks gave me the translation... "Mom & dad couldn't afford a garage door!"

Have a house with a two car garage. Bought a tractor it needed a home. Built a two stall 24x28 garage finished it off, heated it and filled it with stuff. Thought that was my home away from home until the boys got older. Now I go to the garage I have two shadows falling me to build something. We've been putting wood together for two years and we still don't know what we're building but we have fun. Then we built our sugarhouse. The boys love to go there during sugaring but after that they aren't as interested. So Dad would go up there with a good book for some quiet time. Of course I had a driveway mix floor. You would set there and feel the cold go up your pantlegs. This year I put in a nice wood floor and the place is great. Have a small T.V, (never use it) two propane burner stove, coffee pot and peppermints. All the comforts of home. Of course now the oldest thinks he needs the same thing so we go up together to do some reading. Sometimes the quiet times with your kids are the best. He's 10 and reading the Complete works of William Shakespere. Love to see the thinking process working in the boys.

I agree! Our son loves to read. It has been a great journey through various books, the characters, the lands described. He was reading the Tolkien books when he was 9. Although things like Harry Potter are fun reading, they are very much kids books, and pretty easy reading. If you read those Tolkien "Lord of the Rings" books, they are much harder reading.

Funny thing though. For all the adventure books he likes, for the life of me I have not been able to get him to read Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer. I have my Tom Sawyer from when I was 9; he just won't read it.

Often at night, we have to tell him to "Put the book down..." or he would read all night.

One of the challenges we have had is he reads at college level, but he is only 12. While he still enjoys reading kids books for his age range, he reads at an adult level. Unfortunately, you have to be careful about books at adult level, for adult content. One time his was with his Grandma(my Mom), who let him get a Conan adventure book. He had just started reading it when my wife started thumbing thru it. Oh my! She blushed! And, her and I don't blush to easy. Ever had a talk with your Mom, about what books she can buy?

Now, I just wish I could get him to work on math at the same level he reads

The tax-man cometh I wonder how much we are gonna have to pay in this year??? I'm always so apprehensive about doing my taxes...it's a hard check to write. Wife and I are DINKS...dual income no kids...

True! I think my apprehension arises out of fear from not knowing JUST HOW MUCH I'll have to send in. I try and get my withholding just right and itemize as much as possible to reduce the payback. If owe a few hundred bucks, no problem,...it's those 1k and over checks that sting. Several years ago I had to send in just under 2.5k. On the "memo" line, I wrote, "Don't spend it all in one spot". That was stupid. They micromanaged the crap out of me. I received a couple letters within the next several months for proof of everything I had filed. I guess it was better than an audit though I complied and proved everything I had claimed. They got off me.

To owe 125k, wow! I thought people with that kind of money had accountants...? That's not taxation...that's legalized robbery.

Yaeh, funny thing about writing a tax check on April15th... it's O.K. if they owe you thousands and thousands of dollars, but if you owe them over a certain amount you are supposed to do all the accounting and pay them every quarter. If you owe too much at the end of the year, you face fines for not paying on time. Hardly seems fair.

Funny thing is, we talk about us VS them, when them is us. Oh, well. Don't want to go all political on TBN. I try to plan ahead and owe about zero or write a couple hundred dollar check. I've messed up the last two years and gotten larger refunds than I wanted. I keep trying to adjust, but they keep giving out tax credits. It's tough to keep up with.

I can't wait to tear up the dirt just for the fun of it. That's what a clean tractor is for isn't it, just to prove you been workin. Just like when you played football you needed that nice uniform all the more dirty. HooAh!

I was talking to Soundguy about my garage being so clean. Since the wifey is always on my arse about not doing this and not doing that, I stay out in the garage, making noise, running power tools etc. At least she thinks I'm busy doing something constructive.

Any thoughts?

my way of life, especially now, when it is getting warmer, the shop is always a safe asylum and I always find something to tinker with.

With enough tools you don't need an outside project, you can stay busy just fixing and improving your tools, LOL.
