Many years ago, I tried trimming yard shrubs with a circular saw. Although I avoided hurting myself, I did manage to cut the cord to the saw in half.
A couple of weeks ago, I took a chunk out of my jeans at about pocket height with a chainsaw while fleeing a shifting tree. I was a little surprised to have avoided gushing blood. This was one of the very few times I've operated the chainsaw without my safety pants. On the bright side, I didn't cut up my expensive safety pants!
When our house was being built by the previous owner, he was up a ladder laying in the roof deck, and using a circular saw, when his jeans got caught in the blade, which pulled the saw blade into his thigh, only narrowly missing his femoral vein and artery, and he then had to climb down, and drive himself to the ER, where his wife met him 50+ stitches later.
This was in an era preceding common carrying of cell phones, and he was working alone, so it could have been a lot worse of an outcome.
