Any reason why one couldn't use a backhoe (Woods BH80) to do the same job? Would I tweak my backhoe?

This is the hydraulic boom lift I made for my powertrac 180. It works great, but my lift arms are only rated at 600 Lbs, and the 2" bore x 14" stroke boom cyl will lift a lot more than that.

Had thought about that. It would make it alot more versital. I knew I should have bought a 3 spool valve. The side link control works great in moving your load sideways about a foot each way.

Again, thats a great looking place. I really like the three point boom idea and I almost made one of those and then decided to go with a little more height instead of lifting capacity. Here is a picture of the boom I made for my FEL. The boom is 14 feet tall so I can get about 24 feet of vertical reach. I used this boom for putting up the columns, trusses, and purlins on my shop. The boom is pinned in the bucket and then I put ratchet straps just to stabalize the boom.

Qubota, Thanks for the nice words. Some day I may upgrade to a little larger tractor with a FEL. It sure would help with the overhead work but should be happy with what I have. I picked up that 750 the day after my wife said it was OK before she changed her mind. Must have caught her in a weak moment but she loves what I've done with it so far.
