It's worth it to watch just for the appreciation of the special effects of the time VS today. 1977 I believe.

You really haven't missed much. I never understood what all the hype was about, I've only seen about half of them and the ones I've seen were uniformly awful.

I generally have to also have a good book to watch a movie.

I seen it in the theater with the big screen and fancy sound system in the fall of 1979. My kids and I thought it was fantastic! They seen it 2 more times after that.

It ranked right up there with Earthquake and what ever the special effect was that shook the theater seats.

But to watch it now, on a 65" tv is not nearly as impressive.

A friend of mine and I rode our bikes to the 1st showing here in town. We were 3rd and 4th in line. The first 100 got free posters. I still have it in a tube somewhere.
