The Plot Thickens: Enter the Kubota L3010

I have to disagree with you there, Pokey. I really liked the JD4300, but it was more expensive than the L3010 I eventually bought. The clincher was the cost of parts. I priced five parts I thought might someday need repair; one of those parts was the side panel. The Kubota replacement parts averaged 30% less than the JD parts.

I'd have to disagree with you there Jeepguy. I have an old 400 series JD that has over 4000 hours and have never had one single thing done to it except routine maint. I bought it from the original owner for $800 9 years ago and it had 3000 hours on it then and he had never done anything to it except have it maint. each year by deere.

The only thing you will ever regret with L3010 is not having a second one for the wife to drive.

Good Luck

Thought we were talking compacts here CowBoyDoc. I had a J.D. diesel 3020 that lasted over 8000 hrs. with very little maintenance. Wish I could say the same for my Dad's gas 4020. I looked at several used 800 and 900 series J.D compacts recently and those which had maint. records were far from trouble free at even 1000 hrs. Although, I'm sure there are examples of trouble free 8s and 9s they would not approach Kubota's legacy of trouble free compacts.

hook, i would like to through in an idea. have you looked at kioti? i think if you are very serious about getting a tractor you would look at all the options. i too liked the l3010 but decided on the kioti dk35 instead. one reason is with a fel, remotes, rear work lite, and 800 lbs. heavier for $15800 not to mention 5 more horse power. the best price on a l3010 i could find was $17400 and that was without remotes and draft control. take a look you might be suprised. good luck /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Just curious, What are the numbers your being quoted. Now that your thinking orange, you might want to take a long look at Kioti's. If your happy with a shuttle trans you'll love the specs. A DK 35 has more HP, Weighs 1000lbs more as well as other standard options like a rear work light, rear hydraulics, draft control ect, and it's less expensive. if you have a dealer its worth checking out.

The Deere dealer in Montpelier (about 30 miles south of me) picked up the Kioti line so I was able to take a good look. Personally, I found them a bit rough around the edges. With a bit of attention to quality control they might get my business in a few years, but not just yet.

Don't wanna start a brand war, just expressing my opinion.
