The 54" 4 in 1 bucket holds 7.6 cubic feet of dirt. Dirt weighs 70 to 100 lbs per cf, so lets say 760 lbs, + 500 for the bucket and adapter. That's 1,260 lbs to lift, so your good by not only 10 lbs, but also the weight taken off with the original bucket.
Even with the original bucket, you run the risk of overloading it, depending on what you try to lift. Regardless of what you put on the front, you have to use common sense with the lift limit in mind.
BUT, there is no front remote kit available for the J2023H, so in order to use a 4 in 1 bucket, you will need to fabricate that yourself.
I am going today after work to order a J2023H, and the dealer is fabricating a skid steer quick attach for me (welding tabs onto a universal). I plan to use forks and it will make getting a snow blade a lot less expensive.
Yesterday I noticed that New Holland released the Boomer 24. It's the darker blue version of the J2023H. I stopped in to my local New Holland dealer to see what sort of pricing they would have on it. They called me today and told me it would be $16,750

Same story, different model! They're asking $4,500 more for this model, which is roughly 33% more than the LS. When I bought my R4047, NH wanted $10k more, which was around 40% higher.....crazy. Still, some people argue, and say the price difference isn't that much....yet they never report actual purchase prices.

I'd go back and tell them that you can buy the exact same tractor from LS with a better warranty and a better loader for more than $4000 less money. I'd be curious how the NH dealer would respond. I wonder what their argument would be for trying to convince you to go with the NH over the LS.
It looks like the Boomer 24 has the same warranty and the same loader. It's the 2023 with darker blue paint. They must be dropping the Boomer 20 and 25 like LS did with the 2020 and 2030. My local LS dealer told me the best he could do for the 2023 is $13,400. I was very upfront with the NH dealer about the price I got from LS. He said $16,750 is the best they can do. Too bad - they're real nice people, but I'm not in the habit of giving my money away if I don't need to. I'm going to give your dealer a call and see how bad it would be to get a J2023H to CT - although hearing about your traction problems does have me a little concerned.

I guess that's news to me about the warranty and loader. I thought that NH was a 3 year warranty and I thought they used their own loader instead of the LS loader which didn't have the same capacity.

The Boomer 24 has the 235TL loader, which has a maximum lift capacity of 1,034lbs to max height (at the pins) of 80.7".
The LS J2023 loader has a max lift capacity of 1,270lbs to max height (at the pins) of 85.7". It definitely a different, stronger loader. To the same height, the LS can probably lift around 400lbs more, which is a huge difference in this size loader.
As far as traction goes, R4 tires simply don't work well when it's wet/muddy. There really isn't any way around that. I have a 1,400lb counterweight on my 4047, and it still spins the tires in anything wet/muddy pretty easily. Even if I added more weight, it wouldn't make any difference. I have R1s on my Massey, and with unloaded tires, and no counterweight, I can cruise right through the same areas and barely get any tire slippage....it's that big a difference. The key point is that this isn't something unique to the J2023...it will happen to any tractor with R4s on it. Chains aren't a perfect solution, but can make a big difference when there isn't an alternative.
Thanks - looks like I got some bad info. All the more reason to avoid the New Holland model.
E3A, I'm seriously looking at the 2023 as well. Haven't been to Setaro yet, hopefully some time over the next couple of weeks. If you do plan on going out-of-state, keep me in mind. Might get a break on shipping if we piggy back. Just a thought.
