The Mrs. will not let me Bush Hog !

I had planned to spend all day Thursday and Friday bush hogging the pastures at the farm. My wife found out it is supposed to be near 100 deg . here on Thursday and Friday and has taken my Tractor Keys...I was all psyched up for it too ! ...She tells me that I am one of those that thinks it can't happen to them...She is afraid the heat would do me in...I don't have a cab or air like some others..:confused2:

I'm one who does not do well in the hot weather. I'll either start early in the morning or in the evening after the heat has broken. So, yep...when it comes to hot weather, I squeak sometimes.
There's nothing wrong with taking breaks...better that then heat stroke which can kill you.

Me & my 65 year old dad have been replacing 400' of fence at my new property over the past 2 weekends, here in FL. If we wait until about 2 pm to start, we're in mostly shade. "Better", although it's still 90 something out.

Feels like a complete waste sitting around doing not much of nuthin' waiting for the sun to move over.

We'll be waiting until cooler months to start on the remaining 1,400' of it.

With heat it's exposure time right? Well get your keys and keys to a second tractor and have the wife join you. Should cut the time in half.

You are right Roy...You got guys got my testosterone going...After carefully reading all of your thoughtful suggestions...I have just talked to the Mrs...Ahemmm ! and with her OK..I am going to go and bush hog early..very early Thursday AM and then if I get too hot...I will stop early and start again very early Friday AM and just between us guys....I'll bet I finish..As we say in the south ..GET 'ER DONE ! I never have liked job I know should be done hanging over me..I want to do it and finish it and be done with it...Just me, but I appreciate all the advice...you guys are great.:thumbsup:

Feel blessed that you have a wife who cares enough to keep you alive. Don't push it at all out there! I almost lost an "Airborne" son because he thoght he was OK to do just little bit more.

It may sound odd to some, but when I was farming, I liked to drive my tractor at night. My oldest son works until 2200 and will often put in a few hours. My youngest works rotating shifts and drives the tractor at night a lot also.

There is just something about working a tractor at night that I enjoy and if you run open station, it is a lot cooler.

I know what you mean, my son pushed himself into a medical discharge from the 82nd and he was eight years in looking to make it a career.
