nonono, the War Dept memo specifically said "Don't block the sun with all those sticks". So they are just small enough to keep the dogs out;)

That internal temperature difference in the lump could possibly be a clot. If it persists get it checked out ASAP.

Good job on the garden fence..

Rick,
I got it....yeah.........it's a garden and needs sunlight. Keep the care up on that leg. I had a blood clot once in my left leg above the knee and it no fun.

Ok, it's time to finish off the house(no...really). I figure a week inside & a week out, then I can move on to the other zillion things on the farm. First was to finish the spiral stair. I had this idea involving a #3 washtub to cannibalize and trim the floor opening to the basement. First i cut the bottom out of the tub, scoring it first with a razor knife, then used an old kitchen knife & tapped it all the way around with a hammer:

Then I cut the sidewall and flattened it out...kinda. I didn't realize the sides were not straight, but angled out, so it's impossible to get it straight....each end curves as it's flattened. Anyway I just went with it and this is what it looked like before tacking it in:

I used two sidewalls, both curving up from the landing, then back down in the middle:

The landing side:

Then I used barn tin to cover up the floor trusses as you walk down the stairs:

At first I was not happy with the washtub sides. But I get this weird feeling that I'm Captain Nemo and I am going down the conning tower of the Nautilus:laughing: So I guess it's growing on me.

Then I worked on the top of the stair. I had this really cool looking cedar log, but it was too short to reach the roof from the top of the stair in it's normal vertical orientation. So, I walked over my whole property and even cut & hauled another cedar, but it just didn't look as neat as the short one. So, I drug it up the steps and ended up inverting it. I think it looks neat, Les says it looks like a someone climbing up to the ceiling:cool:

I finished off the loft with a mirror in the bathroom & a couple of barn typ Z doors for the storage area:

Then I started on the open gable end of the master bath:

Les picked out some green stained glass to insert into the tin. It was quite interesting getting it to fit. First I cut the hole in the tin:

I had to cut the frame over the V grooves of the tin so it would lay flat, then I had to temporarily screw this frame together so I could flip the tin and attach the inside frame to hold the glass. I notched the inside frame so it didn't pinch the glass:

Then it all went up:

Inside the bathroom is not so nice, so I think the tin in here will get painted:

I still have the inside gable to do in the master bedroom & sliding interior barn door...more to follow..........
