The little pepper that couldn't

First Let me say, I have been growing hot peppers in 5 gallon pots for many years and have had great results. Normally I start them from seed and replant them as they get bigger. This year I just ordered them from Pepper Joe's. I ordered 5 plants, each one a different kind.

My predicament is the Ghost pepper won't grow. The other plants are close to 12" tall but the Ghost is still 1". I have tried several different mixes and even put it in the bay window where everything flourishes. I have never had a plant that won't die, but won't grow either. Could it be I was given a genetically inferior plant?

I know, I grow them every year. It's plenty warm in the south facing bay window anyway. Ghost Peps from years past love that window.

Yes it is possible that there is something in the genetics of the plant preventing intake of nutrients to grow vs just staying alive especially since you state that you have tried different soil mixes.

I would say not a common occurrence but totally possible.

It might be worth asking the supplier you got it from . Maybe once they see the picture they will send you a new free one.

It might have gotten stunted at the nursery. Every year I get plants and some are stronger than others right from the start. Once in a while I start from seed. If they don't get water for some reason, like the one in the corner of the tray, they'll get stunted, and no amount of love will bring it back.
