I've dealt with a decent number of small bales but never seen a big bale up close or taken apart.

Are the big squares essentially just a larger version of a small bale, with really big (4x4'?) flakes of hay? Or are they essentially four small bales tied together?

Similarly, are round bales flaked at all, or is it a spiral of a single long "flake" all wound up?

Here’s a 4x4 flake on the ground.

No. It’s one big bale.

Yes. You can unroll a round bale, and it will look like a long hallway carpet runner.

Bunch more mowing today. Probably 40 acres.
Caught the local East Penn guys pulling a few cars on the rails.

What is your travel speed on the roads? Jon

That a nice looking windrow. How did you choose Pottinger mowers?

All 3 will go is 34MPH, but I seldom get up to that speed. I usually go about 25-30 on the open highway to keep angry a-holes who hate farmers from being late during their trips to starbucks or maybe the weed dispensary.
On the back roads, it’s usually 10-15MPH.

On their way back from the dispensary they'll be slowing you down...

I have a dealer I prefer to work with. They sell Massey Ferguson, Claas & Pottinger brand mowers.
I picked Pottinger because they were less expensive and they had one in stock.

They have been very good mowers.

Yesterday’s hay delivery to one of my mushroom growers yards.

Here’s the blackhawk the state gubmit uses to keep an eye on how much hay is being stored in one place.

Started off this beautiful day kissed by God with some raking.

Today, I decided to rake a little, then bale a little.

Now in the baler

Down into the Valley

Believe it or not, this is very steep. I have to lock the tandem axles together to keep the baler in a straight line.

It’s scary having 38,000lbs behind you on hillsides.
