Watch were I'm pointing the gun. Every gun in my house is FULLY LOADED - all the time. Brownie and I are the only "animals" in my house. Nearest neighbor - five miles distant.

Baldwin was pointing the gun at the camera. They were filming a part in the movie. The part called for him to fire a gun towards the camera. The deceased victim was sitting at, and operating that camera. The bullet went through her and also struck the person behind her in the shoulder.

The director that handed the gun to Baldwin yelled out "COLD GUN!" while handing it to him. Which in the movie set world, means that it's been checked to be safe. However, no one ever checked if it was safe before handing it off.

I personally can't stand Alec Baldwin. But in this case, I'm sure it was an accident on his part. When the director on the set yells out "COLD GUN" and hands the movie prop gun to the actor, they "assume" it's been thoroughly checked. I'm also sure most actors aren't smart enough, or care enough to know how to check it. It's "not their job" (in their mind), they "have people" that do all that setup stuff for them.

Surely it's a sad story, and I feel bad for the victims. But they had numerous safety issues on that set before this happened. The previous "accidental discharges" were with a different actor on the same set.

It was 1 bullet passing thru 2 people. Killing the first person in line. Even if a cartridge had a bullet in it, why did he point it at his cinematographer? Should have been a stunt person, a rustler, a water bucket, or a robber. Only other feeling I have is that someone placed a live round into a 'safe' cylinder deliberately because of all the other problems and disgruntled workers on the set. He want's to call it a 'tragic accident'. It was no 'accident' IMHO. Just like police don't call car wrecks an 'accident'. It's a crash.

Was it in fact, a bullet? I’m reading somewhere that movies use 3 types of blanks, each with varying level of powders. Why would there be any ammo on the set?!?!

With the walk off of the set of several Union personnel a few hours before this incident, this whole thing is extremely suspicious. The Union personnel cited some kind of safety violations on the set. I would still want to know where that round came from. Out of someone's pocket. The so called armorer was apparently the daughter of Thell Reed. A world famous shootist, stunt man, firearms competitor, fast draw artist. and apparently an armorer on Movie sets.

That would be the BIG question wouldn't it?

Clearly an accident caused by some sort of carelessness, but what is going to be interesting to me will be to see what happens. Just a few months back a policewoman outside Minneapolis near here shot a guy they were trying to arrest in what also looked accidental as she yelled "Taser, Taser Taser" before firing, so it appears she grabbed her gun instead of the taser by accident. She got brought up on manslaughter charges (maybe murder too, I forget?). Of course the guy who got shot was wanted on a weapons warrant and resisting arrest and trying to get back in his car to escape, which of course started the chain of events. So it will be interesting to see if a double standard is applied in this case. I am not optimistic...

If Baldwin was properly educated in safe gun handling he would/should have checked/cleared/verified what was in it. Being told it was 'cold' should have meant nothing to him and IMO he should have looked it over with full knowledge and due respect. As an anti-gunner would he not regard it as a 'killing machine'?

Blanks can be deadly at distances of yards. That there would be live ammo of any other type even near a movie set is beyond my understanding. If I were the actor or the armorer I don't know how I'd get over my involvement regardless of whom is considered at fault morally, legally ... or online.
