It's a $35 plastic antler. It won't train any faster than a real shed.

My 6 yr old lab taught herself. She scared the #### out of me once coming back with what, from a distance looked like a human leg. Fortunately it had a split hoof.

Its actually more of a soft rubber antler. He mentioned it wont hurt a young puppy if they jab themselves like a real one. My dogs too old and stupid to teach but if i got another dog as a puppy i would like to train it to be a shed dog. My experience with training dogs is zero.

I believe any dog can be made in a shed retriever, its all a game.Labs because they are natural retrievers would be very good.Lots of reading on the web about this.

I've never seen one of mine actually hurt itself with an antler, but if it were me, I'd just cut the tips off of a real antler and round them over. Every dog I've ever seen loved antlers for some reason. I just don't think a rubber one would work as well, scent or not. It'll just be another rubber chew toy. I think it's a ploy that'll be gone in a few years.

They actually sell deer antlers for dogs to chew on. My friend took some of ours for that purpose. They cut the tines off flush.
