At long last, I have made a deal on a tractor, a JD 4600 HST with loader and hoe. For more discussion, and some pics, see my thread "JD 4600 HST on the way!" in the John Deere Buying Forum.
I want to thank the larger TBN community (not just the JD Green fans) for all the helpful advice I have gleaned from TBN over the past few years. In addition to John Deere, I considered Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Bobcat, Kioti, New Holland and Cub Cadet/Yanmar.
By studying TBN and TractorHouse.com primarily, I was prepared to recognize what I thought was a good deal. I moved quickly when the deal came along that seemed to best fit me, and what I envision doing with the tractor.
I bought a little bigger than I was first contemplating. Many of you have said (and I agree) that there are more people that regret buying too small than there are people that regret buying up a size than what they first considered.
