Just wanted to say congrats to all the TBNers in Texas for your NATIONAL CHAMPION TEXAS LONGHORNS.

Mack Brown coached at Appalachian State in Boone, NC when I was in college there. Then he moved on to coach at UNC before going to Texas. So I pull for the Longhorns in football.

Congrats to all TBNers who are <font color="brown">TEXAS</font> Alumni, where ever you are located! With other rival schools in Texas, I'm not sure all Texans are happy.

I agree about the commentators. Very poor for such a big game.

Yup!!! And they did a FINE JOB of getting there too!!!

I liked that bit ahead of time with Will Farrell , as an alum of USC, and Matthew McConnaughy, as a UT alum, with the maskots for each team. I laughed with Farrell's bit about having a "trojan" as a mascot!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree the commentating was awful. I watched several of the BCS bowl games and noticed that the officiating was equally as bad. It wasn't lopsided towards one team, but just bad all the way around. They missed calls, didn't review things they should have and reviewed things that didn't need to be reviewed. I understand officiating is a tough job, but you would expect a better quality for games of this magnitude.

Both teams played a heck of a game, too bad they wouldn't do a series like baseball /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I could have watched another 3 or 4 games like that.

That was the best game I have seen in a very long time. I thought the Rose Bowl game last year was good. Oh Man! What a great game.

I'm more of a TAM fan, but it was sweet to put the Trojans in their place. Let me just make 2 points:

First: <font color="orange">What a class act Vince Young and Mack Brown is.</font> Almost 200 yards rushing - that is awesome for even a good running back, but almost unheard of for a QB!
When he gets to the pros, lets hope the talent blooms even more for many years. Though I think the pro coaches will hobble his running just to protect their investment. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Next: How about those kickers choking like they did? And it was not just this game. The PennState ~ FloridaState game also. It almost seemed as if the kickers were trying to out-bad /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif each other. SHEEEEESH!
You would think that with such an important game on hand, that you prepare even more for it.
One can only hope that the coaches made 'em drop n gimme 50 - <font color="brown">right over a fresh, steaming cow pie</font>!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congratulations Longhorns (and Mountaineers and Penn State)! The past several nights of football, starting with the Florida State Penn State game, have been some of the best bowl games I can remember.

I am huge Mack Brown fan - one of the few UNC fans that actually still like Mack. I don’t blame the guy for leaving, was disappointed, but understand. Who would have turned down that gig down? If Mack were not a coach he would make a great politician. Don’t believe me? Watch him the next time he’s asked a point blank “yes” or “no” question. He will answer, won’t straddle the fence, but it will take him 5 minutes to explain. I love that guy.

Remember some of the Texas fans were hard on him at first – tough place where a two season loss is a disappointment. But, knew he could pull it off. Truly believe if he had stayed at UNC he would have got one here eventually. Things really took off for him when he brought Greg Davis on board. Use to go to Church with Greg – truly a class act and a good man. Glad to see Mack, Greg and the Lonhorns get a national championship. If their underclassmen stay around, specifically Vince Young, they should pick up another next year.
