Thanks, Buppies! I appreciate the updates! I hope this is of the rain and storm kind, not the ice and storm kind! I'm sick of the ice and cold!

I bought fertilizer (Scotts Turf Builder) yesterday and fired up the mower, string trimmer, and tiller for a few minutes just to make sure they all still work. Now all I gotta do is find enough energy to get started on the yard tomorrow.:D So if I get done with the mowing, dethatching, and fertilizing, I hope we do get lot of rain next weekend.

But we sure do like the current weather. We've got kids and grandkids coming after church today, so I've got to get in the kitchen and start a big slow cooker full of Cajun Shrimp Stew.

Bird-Thanks for the reminder to get started with the fertilizer. The weather this week should be pretty good for changing oil and filters and getting all the lawn and garden equipment in good shape.

Had to change the the fan belt on the lawn tractors mowing deck Friday (It seems I'm a little tough on those belts). After having to do it about 5 times over the last 12 years it's getting to be a pretty quick job. Stopped by TSC to see about a belt and it was $24, about 1/2 what I paid at Sears for the last one.

Have a great day with the Grandkids.

Charlie

Your two months ahead of us on lawn work.:D

Putting up the cattle panels for the tomatoes today. Putting them up vertically as supports-tied into the corners of the raised beds. Going to put the seedlings in the cold frame to harden them off for a week or 10 days. Same for the peppers. Corn goes in mid-march-fast approaching. Time to open the spring and summer thread??

I spent yesterday working on plumbing around here. New shower head installed, new toilet purchased, (but is heavy enough, I'll need a little help getting the old one out and new one into position), changed hearing element in water heater, mucked around cleaning contacts on the pressure tank solenoid/switch, (sometimes, it would not come on at 40 psi, and other times, it would not shut off at 60 psi!), etc. All things that have needed doing, but I think they will make good winter projects, only to realize, I hate doing that stuff in the COLD. No excuses with yesterday's weather!

I have either created new muscles, or awakened some old ones that have been sleeping too long. Today, I hope to spend hoeing in the garden, getting it ready to plant in about 3 weeks. I'm beginning to think Aleve and I will be re-introduced before bedtime tonight.

I've replaced a few toilets myself in years past, but last year I spent the money to let a professional replace both of ours with Toto ADA toilets; sure do like them better than any I've seen or used in the past.

Allot more room when you got a little "motor":p Duramax takes up every inch!!

Give me a derated 6 cylinder any day over a V8.:D It's just how much you wanna beef up your tranny. I always gotta remember to tune down my programmer when I pull the Big RED Beast. How about we have a pulling contest?:stirthepot:

OK Brandi, but we will have to wait until my bicycle is out of the tire shop, should be all I need:D I bet if my hands where as small as yours, I could get mine from the bottom too, had one the guys in the crew do that for me in a motel parking lot in Colorado. I can almost grab the filter, but cant grasp it enough to loosen.

Woohoo! A towing contest! Sounds like fun! :D :stirthepot:

Talking about 6 cylinders, bicycles, drag racing and Magnets..

Wrist bands,,, Lou

Betty got me one of those Bio Health bands,, the ones with the magnet in them.. You wear on your wrist,, left I think,,
Now I've been wearing it for a few days,, it was theoretically to help with stress,, May have helped,, But I am not a stressful person..
It's supposed to help me with hunger,, it may be helping there, I don't eat as much as I could
It was thought to help with pain,, may have helped,, cause I got hit with a golf ball while wearing it and didn't seem to hurt as much.. But I may be numb in that location,,
The last thing it helps with ones drinking,, it maybe helping there,, makes whiskey taste like copper wire,, course without the stress, not hungry, no pain anymore it may have tasted like that before,, not sure but maybe..

So will give it a three out of a four,, possible four but not sure on the copper taste,, Thought about taking it off while drinking but afraid the stress, hunger and pains may kick in and kill me,, you never know,, science and chemistry,, on the conservative side,, I was telling my son about it and he got a couple of refrigerator magnets and a roll of duct tape and made him and his wife one,, He said the only thing he could see is when he open the refrigerator door the light came on.. science I'm thinking,, got to be science,, Lou

Gettin' the garden ready. Putting up new fence, ran the rototiller, just need to add some compost in and it'll be all set. Bought a DIY green house - 12 x 15 ...it's sitting on my trailer waiting for me to build a foundation for it then assemble. Week from Monday contractor will be starting the new leanto on the barn. ... weather permitting. Cut down 4 dead trees and cleaned up the mess this a.m. -- only have upteen more to do. I bet I've lost a good third of my trees from drought induced disease. Didn't do anything around here last year - spent all my time and energy beating that cancer ....this year I want to get started early and stay right after it playing catch up.leanto - garden - greenhouse are first on the list. Just hope this nice weather stays with us.

Dennis,
First off........I was thinking wrong. I just crawl under to undo the oil drain plug. I pull the turbo duct from the air box to get to the filter from the top. Starting threads upside down on a filter full of oil is fun.

Now, go ahead and bring the bicycle, cause your Duramx would be wooped.;) I'll put any Cummins powered pickup against all the other diesel pickup. Even if it has an Allison transmission behind it.:shocked:

2003 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty 2500/3500 - First Look & Road Test - Motor Trend

Ram's new inline-six 5.9-liter High-Output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, which delivers 305 horsepower at 2900 rpm and 555 lb-ft of torque at only 1400 rpm when shifted by its manual six-speed transmission. Dodge rightfully boasts that this is the most powerful turbo diesel available in the 2500/3500 truck market, offering a tow rating of 23,000 pounds (Gross Combined Weight Rating). It may also be the most durable, engineered to have an average major overhaul interval of 350,000 miles and oil-change intervals of 15,000 miles instead of the customary 7500. While their displacements and cylinder counts are larger, Ford's 7.3-liter V-8 Power Stroke and General Motors' 6.6-liter Duramax turbo diesels don't quite measure up to the output of the High-Output Cummins, producing 275 hp/520 lb-ft and 300 hp/520 lb-ft, respectively.

Now Dennis..............add another 100 horsepower:shocked::shocked: for crusin' or 50 horsepower:eek: for pulling from the programmer;)..................and you might wanna bring two bicycles:2cents:..........one to ride home after the first one burn it's tires up in the flames my tires are gonna start leaving you in black smoke.:cool2: Oh well..........back to the tire shop.:p Cause I really can spin all four rear tires. Don't ask me how I know this:censored:.

You just gotta understand:melodramatic: Cummins:checkeredflag: derated:yellowflag: this engine 100s and 100s of horsepower to get it to work with a factory (cough):fever: transmission.:soapbox:
hugs, Brandi

Almost all the 18 wheelers run in line six cylinder diesels in this country. Some of the European diesels like Scania use V8s, because they run more cab overs.

I dont need a "programmer", I bought right the 1st time:laughing: You do know that the specs given for pull power/capacity are all generated by the manufacturers them selves right? Staring in 2015 they are going to consolidate the ratings to get truer info out to buyers, of course it will be voluntary, but Toyota started it and the other "3" say they will go in.

6.0L Power Stroke vs 5.9L Cummins vs 6.6L Duramax Ill keep my factory Duramax!!

Hehehe...............I put the tuner on it to get 23 mpg to and from work. I get better mileage on the 100 hp setting then the economy setting. Watcha you get for mileage?:confused3:

Notice in your webpage link the weight of the Cummins. Just another reason they go on and on and go over millions of miles.
hugs, Brandi
