I'm watching TV reports of the horrible flooding in the mid-states and it occurred to me that I have a pto pump on a trailer, hoses and pickups that ought to be able to help somebody in this region. Maybe pumping out basements and utility buildings, holding off weak sandbag walls, unlimited uses. It has a huge flow rate: like 3000 gal / minute as an irrigation pump. On a higher level, there will be a huge interest in reclaiming tractors and equipment that has be submerged and bentup by raging waters packed with debris. I really can't drive it down to Texas and wouldn't know the best place or agency to give it to. I would take it a 100 miles or so to a meeting place where I could get it onto a semi- header that way. I don't need money for it if it helps the situation. When I was a kid my parents place was flooded 1/2 way up the first floor and its a terrible thing. When it happened the second year again, my Mother lost it and never was the same ever again.
So, could this forum start a thread where flood recovery issues would be covered: pumping, repair, cleaning, pet recover, emergency cattle fencing, portable welding, starting waterlogged diesels, safety around electric utilities, places needing help most, etc. I have not seen anything on the web yet and I cruise it everywhere. There's maybe even a need for a local TBN club to organized some activity and get some teamwork into the areas. If I knew where to go, I would be gratified to participate in such a deal.
I would guess that all the farm supply places will be out of fence posts, wire, tractor filters, hydraulic oil, generators, pumps, pressure washers, and nails and staples. Same thing as when a tornado goes through here.
What do you think? Time for action, not just words.
Or i it all under conrol by the locals?
