Wanted to thank everyone for all the help and advise you have given. As a newbie I've gotten lots of useful help and opinions!!!

So by no means am I an authority of tractors but after driving the 4120 yesterday......ohhhhhh man!!!

Really nice tractor!!

I can't believe I walked out of there without it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The dealer is still working numbers with me.... I'm of the opinion to wait till April to buy when I actually need it. Does anyone have any opinions on purchase time?? I was wondering if because of the spring demand that prices would go up.

Current pricing is as follows:

4120 HST 21,053 (w/R4's)
400x Loader 3,675
LX6 rotary cutter 1,550
Total Rebates (400.00)

Package total 25,878

I was about to pull the trigger on a used 4710 but never got a call back from the guy. Maybe it was for a good reason!

Thanks again!

Lee

I would buy now, if you want to take advantage of the two year 0% finance rate. If you plan to take out more than two years, then it really doesn't matter when you buy it.

The 4120 is a beautiful tractor. Good luck with your decision.

I have a 4720 and love it.

I would seriously consider the 400CX over the 400X loader - look at the specs on them. I went with the MX-6 instead of the LX6, but I am cutting up some serious brush (mesquite trees included), you migth not need to spend the extra money.

Regardless, the platform is awesome and you will love it.

Depending on what kind of inventory your dealer keeps - the price and availability might change for the better or worse.

As Darin said, have your dealer work up a price that includes the MX6 so you can compare. The MX6 is significantly more expensive - but that price includes safety chains front and rear, and a slip clutch - all of which were extra-cost options on the LX6 last I looked.

If I recall, the MX6 also has a higher blade speed than the LX6 - which should give you a better cut quality on 'nicer' grassy areas.

If they have both on the lot - look them over and compare. The beef of the MX6 is immediately obvious, and I've been very pleased with mine. I expect it to outlast me.

I believe you would be very pleased with the 4120 package. Here's a couple more thoughts which might ease the purchase decision from my experience last May of 2005 when I purchased a 4320 package w/ 400X + several implements totalling about $30K: I first negotiated an agreed upon package selling price; put 20% cash down; took the (then offered) 0% 36 mos. JD financing; setup an annual payment schedule for one payment a year each April (after income tax refunds); and per my accountants advice using IRS Section 179 for capital equipment will depreciate 100% of the purchase cost for the 2005 tax year. Depending upon your tax rate situation your income tax savings and additional refund could offset most of the next year's annual payment. Good luck in your deal!
