Went and looked at some different tractors on Saturday. I test drove the 3301 HST which I plan on getting, it fit me pretty good being 6'3". I'm pretty happy with the prices so far just wanted to see if everyone agrees.

L3301 HST Loader ag tires
$16000

R4 tires
$500

6' rear blade
$599

RCF2060 cutter
$1899

Quick attach bucket
$500

Total
$19,498 without tax

Those are probably dead on prices. I'm 6'3 myself, and have been toying with moving the seat back two inches for just a bit more comfort. These are great tractors you will love to run. Enjoy

Reasonable prices.

I think you should at least look at a L2501 or L3901 over a L3301. All 3 are the same frame as my L3200. The L2501 is de-rated to 25hp so it can avoid a pile of emissions stuff. I hear it's massively torquey & probably dynos higher than its rated, almost the same as a L3301. The L3301 & L3901 both have an exhaust filter & computer to run things.

My L3200 is about right on power, occasionally I wish it had more, but not often. If the L2501 is about the same, avoiding the extra complexity & price might be worth it. Or if you are gonna deal with the DPF, go for the extra HP.

The difference in power is in the rated rpm, the L2501 is rated at 2200rpm, looking at the torque curve for the D1703 engine that they use it should be right about 25hp for the gross continuous.

The 2501 does have a little lower hyd pump output because of the lowered operating engine speed.

Honestly if I bought one I would swap out the gears for the pto in the rear axle with a 33-3901 and turn up the throttle stop to 2700rpm like the 3301 and 3901, should be making over 32hp by then.

Wow - can this really be done?

They use the same rear axle, only difference is the rated pto rpm, I haven't pulled part numbers to compare them but it's a 670rpm difference at pto speed between them is HST form.

The d1703 is rated about 34hp at 2800rpm.

I never did get a price of the L3901 curious how much more is it than the L3301

I can't remember the exact amount but thought it was a pretty decent jump when I looked

If memory serves, it is about 2k more. I would agree with considering getting the L3901, but much should depend on the type of work you plan on doing. Most folks will appreciate the additional HP and I have never heard of someone saying they had "too much HP". Just depends if the extra cost is worth it to you. See what price difference the dealer can give you; they may have more L3901's to sell which could work in your favor.

I'm going to use it for, brush, tall grass clearing, gravel driveway grading, snow removal with the back blade and bucket around our 5 acres.

Might get a tiller in the future for my decent sized garden.

I just went though this. L2501-L3901 is the same chassis/frame, as I'm sure you discovered.

I ended up with a L3301. It was the "most tractor" that fit into my budget. I dont recall what the jump in price for the 3901 was, but it was enough to bump it out of my spend range after I added in options and implements.

While I did think similar things about the L2501, the pto power was limiting right away. Im sure you might be able to change out gearing, but I would guess you'd immediately loose your warranty. So you'd either be out that, or have a tractor with less pto than what you maybe wanted for the time till you swapped things out.

My thoughts were the differences between the 33 and 39 are probably computer controlled, as the bore/stroke and displacement are identical. Someone might come out with an "engine tune" that would bump the power up at some point. But the power of the 33 does everything I need it to do right now and it fit my budget.

The L4701 jumps to a bigger chassis/frame.

If you have an open budget, i don't see a reason to not go as big as you can.

When I bought my 2501 it was cheaper to go to the 3301 than from the 3301 to the 3901. From the 3301 to 3901 it was like $1600 difference whereas only $800 from 2501 to 3301.

I've had my L3901 since mid June. Nice machine. Compliments my L3130. L3901 was $22k and change with loader and landpride blade.
