Here's what a 4 wheel drive setup looks like. The short hose right on top is supplying charge pressure from the rear pump to the front. The charge pump supplies relatively low pressure oil to the piston pump so it doesn't have to suck it up. If your charge pump is not supplying enough oil to the piston pump it can't work right and probably will make a lot of noise.

Great information. Can the pressure of the charge pump output be checked with a gauge on the line? What PSI does it create?

SO I found the #'s and the best route Ive found is a repair at Legacy Hydraulics. Anyone ever used them? They said $100-1100 to repair depending on what it needs.

The cheapest replacement I've found is $1600 and is local to me in Memphis.

Terry wanted $1900.

There are actually two pump in the assembly with the charge pump in between. How did you check the pump is bad? Do you know which pump? Did you take it apart?

Someone mentioned a line going directly from the charge pump to the steering valve on some models. I doubt if whether 2wd or 4wd makes any difference. Eaton or Cessna might. We have that line on ours or not, but if so a guy could tee-in & cap a test port for future evaluation w/o disconnecting the steering line. (gritty under my footplate .. yours?)

I went off of the advice of 2 different people which was to block off both ports coming from the pump to the torque motor and step on the pedal. I was advised that if it didn't stall the engine that the pump was not working properly.

The fact that it will move at slow engine rpm tells me the pump is probably OK. I went back and looked at you video again and noticed you mashed the pedal all the way each time. That would require the most oil to be available to the pump. Try just pushing the pedal a little and see if it will move. First, check the screen in the tank if there is one on the hydro supply. If it's plugged up the pump can't pull enough oil and will cavitate. At lower speeds it can get enough oil to function. Next check the bypass (if yours has one) as has been mentioned before. I think it's item 39A on the parts list. If you have already pulled the pump to take it in, now's a good time to clean out the tank and screen and check for anything that might restrict the oil getting to the pump.
